vWii translates to Virtual Wii which is the Wii U's built in Wii. It is very moddable, and the methods we use today have changed a little bit! It's much more painless than what it used to be from a couple of years ago, and I've written this section to make it as easy as possible.
Wuphax
The first thing we have to do is get the Homebrew Channel onto the vWii. Wuphax is the simplest tool to do that with, but we have to run it through the Wii U first. Just to be clear, this will not work if you're running on redNAND.
Step 1) Download the latest wuphax.elf.
Step 2) Make a folder in the following directory on your SD card:
Name it 'wuphax' or whatever you want it to be called. Put the 'wuphax.elf' you downloaded in the last step in this new folder you just made. Now your SD card should look like this:
Step 3) Download the latest Hackmii Installer. Take the 'boot.elf' from the 'hackmii_installer_v1.2' folder and place it into the root of your SD card.
Step 4) Put the SD card into the SD Card slot in your Wii U
Step 5) Turn on your Wii U, and get to the Homebrew Launcher using your preferred method, and launch 'wuphax'.
Step 6) When your options appear, press 'A' to backup your Mii Channel and inject the Hackmii Installer.
Step 7) It will kick you back into the Homebrew Launcher. Get back to the Wii U system Menu.
Step 8) Boot up the vWii.
Step 9) Launch the Mii Channel
Step 10) It will boot the Hackmii Installer. You'll see a screen talking about how you were scammed if you payed for this. Eventually you'll see a 'Press 1 to Continue' pop up. (It might take a little bit). Press 1 when that pops up.
Step 11) Go through the prompts to get the Homebrew Channel installed. Once you do that, follow the onscreen prompts to get back to the vWii.
Step 12) You should see the Homebrew Channel on the vWii menu. We're not done yet, as the Mii Channel still directs to the Hackmii installer. Go back to the Wii U system menu.
Step 13) Get to the Homebrew Launcher using your preferred method, and launch 'wuphax'.
Step 14) When your options appear, press 'B' to restore your Mii Channel.
And with that, you've painlessly installed the Homebrew Channel onto your vWii and restored the Mii Channel. Now let's play around with it a little more.
Dumping the vWii's NAND
Now that we're playing around with the vWii, we should backup the NAND in case anything goes wrong. (Just to be clear, I'm retelling [Truth]'s guide from GBATemp and using his starter pack for the remaining sections. Thanks for the awesome guide!)
Step 1) Download this package. (Updated as of April 29th, 2016)
Step 2) Extract the 'apps' folder to the root of your SD card.
Step 3) Put the SD card into the SD Card slot in your Wii U
Step 4) Turn on the Wii U, launch the vWii, and get into the Homebrew Channel.
Step 5) Launch 'Dump Mii NAND'
Step 6) It will automatically start to dump the NAND. When it's done (depending on the speed of your SD card) it will reboot the Wii U and you'll have a NAND dump in the root of your SD card:
IOS One-by-One Dumping (Optional)
I have to be honest, this is something that I personally haven't done. This step is only to backup files to recover from a semi-brick, which I'm not expecting to happen. Though to be safe, I've listed what [Truth] wrote about on the subject here. Maybe I'm not the one who should be saying this because of my opinion on the matter but... better to be safe than sorry!
Step 1) Download YetAnotherBlueDumpMod from here.
Step 2) Copy the files to your SD card sd:/apps/YetAnotherBlueDumpMod and launch the app from the Homebrew Channel.
Step 3) Go to System Titles and dump each IOS individually to a wad. When prompted to fakesign the ticket or TMD, say No to both.
cIOS Installation
Step 1) Get to the vWii Menu and launch the Homebrew Channel.
Step 2) Launch the 'd2x cIOS installer'
Step 3) On the top of the screen, we can choose/ change a couple of options. Set them to what I have:
Step 4) Press 'A' to install and wait for installation to finish. When it's done, Press 'A' to continue.
Step 5) Again - on the top of the screen, we can choose/ change a couple of options. Set them to what I have:
Step 6) Press 'A' to install and wait for installation to finish. When it's done, Press 'A' to continue.
Step 7) Again - on the top of the screen, we can choose/ change a couple of options. Set them to what I have:
Step 8) Press 'A' to install and wait for installation to finish. When it's done, Press 'B' to exit.
You now have the ability to use USB Loader GX, Wiiflow, CFG USB Loader, all those emulators made for vWii, and everything else.
Patching IOS80
One last thing... we need to patch the vWii to skip signature checks so we can install virtual console titles, Wiiware titles, and forwarders
Warning: This could potentially brick your vWii if the installation fails at anytime. Make sure you're installing this patch when you know the power won't go out, or anything like that.
Step 1) Download this IOS80 Patcher from GBATemp's damysteryman. (Thanks for this!)
Step 2) Extract the contents of this download to the root of the SD card. It should contain an 'apps' folder, and an 'src' folder.
Step 3) Put the SD card into the SD Card slot in your Wii U
Step 4) Turn on the Wii U, launch the vWii, and get into the Homebrew Channel.
Step 5) Run the 'Patched IOS80 Installer for vWii'.

Step 6) A black screen with a big warning will pop up. You can't do anything for 30 seconds. After that 30 seconds, you can press 'A' to run the installer. It's a very quick installation.
Step 7) Once it's done, you can press any button to exit. This will kick you out to the Homebrew Channel. Exit to the system menu.
If you can boot into the system menu, congratulations! You're officially done modding your vWii. Go install some stuff!
